G. Marshall (Tractors) Ltd was formed in 1977 by George Marshall, who began repairing agricultural machinery in a shed on the family farm at Thornilaw, a mile from where our state of the art depot is located today. The business continued to grow until in 1985 when it acquired the Renault and Krone agriculture franchises for the Scottish Borders. Over the next 15 years G. Marshall (Tractors) Ltd continued to grow into one of the most successful Renault Agriculture branches in the UK, winning numerous awards for sales and service, thanks to a team of dedicated and experienced staff.
It was during this period, in 1996, the company had outgrown its Thornilaw base. In order to continue the growth of the business, a site was acquired a mere mile down the road in Charlesfield Industrial Estate where a new purpose built modern depot was built, which allowed the company to expand its operations further.
In 2004, major changes occurred when Claas bought over Reanult Agricutlure, and a complete re-branding took place. This relationship continued for approximately seven years. However with other pre-existing Claas dealers in the area, it was a matter of time before the partnership ended.
As a result, to continue to supply a full range of products to our loyal customers, the company began a partnership with AgriAgro and its McCormick brand, whilst continuing to supply quality products from other manufacturers such as Vicon, Horsch and Great Plains to name a few.
This was short lived however, as in 2014 the Case IH brand became available in the Scottish Borders. Since then Case IH and G.Marshall (Tractors) Ltd have formed a trusted partnership offering a range of innovative, reliable products, such as tractors ranging from 50 horsepower all the way to 650 horsepower. With Case IH at the core of our business, we continue to supply selected brand of quality products, which complement the Case IH brand.
In over 40 years of business, G. Marshall (Tractors) Ltd have built up a strong and loyal customer base which continues to grow year after year. We believe in strong customer relationships! We are not nor ever will be perfect.
